Excel is powerful. It's also where efficiency goes to die.

I wanted to share a story about a client project because I think a lot of companies can relate.

Their old process looked like this: take every project, manually plug the values into an Excel sheet, calculate the IRR, copy that data back into Salesforce, and remember to submit for approval if the IRR didn't meet a certain threshold.

With all of those manual steps, you can probably imagine where things could go wrong, not to mention the amount of swivel-chairing between systems. This was a critical part of their sales process, and it had stayed this manual for years.

Luckily, we have some incredible devs on our team. They went down some real rabbit holes researching and implementing Halley's root-finding algorithm and the IRR formula directly in Apex, so the entire calculation could run natively in Salesforce.

No more swivel chair.

I share this story because so many companies go years without ever questioning whether a process that's deeply ingrained in their operations could be significantly improved.
